Istanbul Strait UpEast2WestWith its new album Istanbul Strait Up from East 2 West series, Doublemoon Records aims to remove from the map the whole borderline of the probable realm between The East and The West. Each song is brought to life by the breath of contemporary poets and then astonishingly transformed via magic hands. Published worldwide, the album includes exclusively those who have produced the distinguishable. Rather than a quest for synthesis, it’s the revelation of the existing.
The record in your hands dates back to 2005. A reflection of the real world. A world expressed by lyrics at times, and by sensations uniquely from time to time. Far from delusions, written in scores and incontestable.
The raison d’être of this record is finding relief in the clarinet of Hüsnü Seslendirici, addressing love without even naming it, encountering Sultan Orhan at the gate opened by Burhan Öçal and Pete Namlook remembering them self through belly dance tunefulness of Baba Zula and approaching Ab-ı Hayat with Mercan Dede. Sensitive to contemporary music and trying to decipher the metaphors and codes we encounter everyday.
The record mingled with universality and Istanbul Strait Up came forth. Although the sounds within remind us of centuries ago, they embrace the present with undeniable righteousness. Listen and let this be our mutual language. |
